Those sunny days of summer

Susanna and Elizabeth had a wonderful time of splashing in the sun on Sunday afternoon.
Caroline recently bought Susanna a "ducky" pool from the local thrift shop.
She has been kind of scared of that big yellow thing, but yesterday we filled it with some water and got in! Susanna cried a little at first but she finally got used to it and even sat down!
As you can see in the pictures we were a little of a tight fit! But otherwise it was a terrific time enjoying the beautiful outdoors!

In this picture Susanna has to close her eyes because the sun was so bright!

For He's a Jolly Good Fellow.........

Happy Father's Day!
We recently celebrated the special event of Father's Day......We are so blessed to have a wonderful father!
To start off OUR Dad's day we attended church where he had to help during the service due to a pastor on vacation.....
After a great worship time, he came home to enjoy a delicious dinner of steak, baked potatoes, fried okra, layer salad, and bread.
Miles got to take Dad to the Sno Cone Place, which was special for him.
Later we had dessert of ice cream sundaes (very appropriate) with Eliazbeth's homemade fudge sauce! Is your mouth watering yet?!?!
We had rented a movie about Harry S. Truman, so we watched it in the afternoon.

Over all, the day was filled with thankfulness to the Lord for giving us such a superb dad!

Beckman Biking

The Beckman Biking Adventure, Sunday, June 8, 2008.

Here is the pedal by pedal report.....

Two summers ago the city of Lindsborg made the Valkommen Trail. We children have been up and down the whole trail many times, but Mom has only gone a few, and Dad had never gone. So, we all geared up to go last night. The sky was overcast with limited humidity which made the early evening ride much more desirable. Dad rode with Susanna behind him. Mom rode Eric's bike. Caroline, Miles and I rode on our own bikes while Eric rode an extra bike we have on hand. The Trail is 2.5 miles round trip. Once you have gone about a three-fourths of a mile or so, their is a "fork" in the trail. We usually go left because of the bridge. When you go on the left side you can cross over the Smoky Valley River via a bridge. After going on the bridge you can circle around, cross over another bridge and get back on the trail. So, we started heading back towards home. On the way we stopped at the sno cone shop. "Tropical Sno" is a local favorite all summer long! The flavor of the week was "Melonberry." Dad was brave enough to try it. Miles chose "Jayhawk", Caroline got "Swede", Eric got "Cherry Limeade" and I got "Mountain Splash Berry". Dad shared with Susanna. Mom decided to have a taste of each one!! After our refreshing treat, we biked directly home since the mosquitoes were seemingly attracted to our sticky fingers!

It was a memorable time spent together and a wonderful ending to our weekend!

Welcome!!!!!

June Greetings!
Welcome to the Beckman Blog. This is our first post!
We thought this would be a great family project to record what is going on in our lives. We hope you, as our dear family and treasured friends, enjoy the random reflections we share with you.

Following are a few memorable moments we have recently experienced.
Enjoy the photos!

Susanna Playing

Susanna loves playing with her dollies. She especially likes holding them by the neck and patting them on the back!

Mud Slide

Getting ready to go down the hill one more time! WHEE! We were all a mess of muddy clay and water!

This is our mud slide. Notice the "crystal clear" water at the bottom?

AFTER!

This is when we returned! A Memorial memory maker!

BEFORE!

After a fun day at the Omaha Zoo we traveled to Nebraska City, NE to meet up with some other friends. The pizza buffet was tasted so good! Through rain and thunderstorm, we then drove to our friends house in NE Kansas. Since it was raining we could not camp outside as planned. So, 26 people were left to camp inside the Ulmer B&B that night!
Memorial Day morning, 16 of the 20 children decided to head to the canyon in the pasture. This picture is BEFORE we set out!

The 8 kids

Our friends came with us to the Omaha Zoo over Memorial Weekend. The Jungle rainforest was one of our favorites! The oldest 8 children had a blast on the rope bridge! The littlest girls in strollers couldn't join us.

Sisters!

Elizabeth and Susanna nearly worn out from our day at the zoo.

Canoeing

A beautiful Kansas morning found us canoeing in the country at our friends pond.
